The Reel Candy took 1st place day one and 2nd place day 2 and overall 2nd. Our day 3 was cancelled with bad weather. This was the Azure 8th Annual Invitational, with a bunch of GREAT Guys. Water is still cool, but some real nice wahoo were caught. Here are a couple of pics from our trip back, with Eric as our angler. We ended up with 5 wahoo, and 4 dolphin, before making the run for the states. We have 1 unbooked weekend in April available on the Reel Candy for a 3 day trip to Walkers Cay if interested.

Yesterday, we had a break so we took some local friends fishing. Had 5 wahoo all over 20. Haven't found the tunas yet. Tournament next 3 days. Look for the reports!

Bahamas fishing yesterday!

The Reel Candy crew had an awesome day fishing from Marsh Harbour, yesterday. Big Dolphin have arrived with a couple of 60+ pounders and a couple of 40-50's mixed in. Add a white marlin in the mix and a blue, it was a great day. The angler took a dive, he jumped off 2 more whites.

Last weeks weather in Stuart Florida, gave us a break to get offshore. Lot's of rays gave us a chance to catch some cobia to 70 lbs. Eric, caught his first cobia, about 30 # off our 26' Reel Candy II. The sailfish capitol has not been producing a lot of sailfish, but plenty of action on dolphin and bonitas. In the Bahamas the Reel Candy crew last week caught 2 white marlin, a blue marlin (saw another) 15 dolphin on Tuesday and 6 on Wednesday, a small yellowfin and several wahoo. We have a full week in Marsh Harbour Abacos, Bahamas, looking forward to hooking some more whites and blue marlin if the weather holds.

We have an opening for a couple of anglers to fish over to Walkers Cay and fish the next day from
Grand Cay. This is for the cost of fuel and mate only on the Reel Candy. (Room, food and flight extra) We are fishing a three day tournament and would like to get some prefishing in. We will leave from Stuart when the weather allows and will assist you with arranging a return flight back to Stuart with Treasure Coast Charters.

Stuart, Florida Sailfish Season

It's been a great season for Sailfish here in Stuart, Florida, however its winding down, with just a few sailfish bites on a daily charter. For a couple of weeks the cobia were here, but now you really have to look for them. Still some good dolphin fishing and plenty of fish offshore for a charter.

Since the Miami Boat Show we have been real busy. With the upcoming marlin season, we have taken a serious look for where we can give our marlin charter clients the best chances for a blue or white marlin. Chance has caught a few whites already while fishing the Abacos in Marsh Harbour, Bahamas, for a few of our friends. The Reel Candy will be fishing a tournament later this month in Walkers Cay, although we will be staying at Rosies in Grand. If you would like to fish the end of March, in the Bahamas, give us a call.

The Reel Candy crew will be in the Abacos, in April and May. The end of May we are heading to Cat Island for a couple of weeks and then fishing our way to St Thomas. We still have Charter days available for this trip. We will be in St Thomas at the Sapphire Resort and Marina for the July and August moons. Please contact us for charter dates.

Sailfish Weekend

The wind blew, and blew some more. However this is Sailfishing in Stuart, Florida, this time of the year. This was the roughest water we have fished this year. The sailfsih bite has slowed some but the bait is still here, so the sails must still be close by. We were able to connect for first time sailfish for Jack and Cindy, from Missouri and again yesterday for Scott and Renee our friends from the Bahamas, who now live in North Carolina. Candy even caught a nice sail yesterday and got completely soaked on the backdown. Now we are off this week to the Miami Boat Show. We are there with Stingray Tackle and Outfitters and Marlin University. Stop by and see us! The Reel Candy will be back getting lines wet The 17th.

Stuart Sailfishing Today!

Eric (Reel Candy crew) and Christopher Gerzeny, Caught 6 sails out of 10 bites once the fog lifted this morning and we were able to leave the dock on the Reel Candy. This is some of the best sailfishing we have experienced in Stuart for a few years. Good news is there are still large numbers of sails being caught north of us. If your interested in booking a charter, send us and email or feel free to give us a call. We are now docked at the famous Finest Kind Marina, just 10 minutes from the St Lucie Inlet, in Stuart Florida.

Candy's brother, Larry Chapman, never caught a billfish before. December 30th was his day! A white marlin and 2 Stuart, Florida sailfish. Everyone else on the Reel Candy was probably 0 for 20 on sails. The next day we had the guys from Stingray Tackle in Jupiter, Florida for a half day and went 3 for 3 on sails.Congrats to VJ on the Challenge, Neil on the Outlaw, and Glen on the Floridian, All had double digit sails. Dave on the Patsy hooked a triple and released all 3. Scott on the Boneshaker had an awesome couple of days too.

Thanks for visiting our website! We have incurred several hours with our friend Daryl from Noble Webworks on the Reel Candy website for this season. HOT! Best describes the SAILFISH Bite

Congratulations to Mark from Gaithersburg, Maryland, on his first sailfish that he connected on while fishing the Reel Candy over Thanksgiving. Mark took a dive for his first bill fish. He'll have to do it again when we get his first marlin this summer.

The Sailfish numbers are up, but the cold fronts bringing high winds have kept us at the dock this past weekend. This week is looking great and Eric is going to get some time in as a mate since school is out for the holidays.

Since we are required to be in the states for physical therapy until Marlin Season. We are excited about the sailfish bite in Stuart. Looks as if we are going to get a couple of tournaments in. If you are interested in being an angler or being an observer for the Reel Candy send us an email. We are also available for 4 legs of the Bahama Billfish Championship this year.

We are thrilled with our ongoing relationship with the team at Marlin Magazine and Marlin University. According to Barb, there is only one spot left for the Galapagoes Marlin U trip this year, and the Kona trip is filling up quickly. Let us know if you need help booking these.

Expedition

Expediton
has joined the Reel Candy team for the 2010 fishing season in the Bahamas. Chance and Josh, decided to help when I had shoulder surgery. These guys are first class fisherman.

The Expedition is currently docked at the Harbour View Marina in Marsh Harbour and can be booked through the Reel Candy team.

HOLIDAY RECEIPE

Traditionally people eat either ham or turkey, but in the Bahamas we try to think outside the box. Here is a little recipe which is very easy to make.
I call it Coconut Rum marinated chicken.

Ingredients:
4 chicken breasts or thighs, bone in
1 1/2 cups of Nassau Royal coconut rum
3/4 cup of pineapple juice
1/4 cup of soy sauce (low sodium is best)

Method:
Mix all the liquid to gether and whisk very well. Place the chicken in a tupperware container and pour the mixture over the chicken and cover with a tight fitting lid. Let the chicken marinate in the refigerator for at least 4 hours and be sure to flip it over half way through. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and place the chicken on a flat pan or cookie sheet. TIP: Cover the pan with aluminum foil because the marinade will caramilize while cooking and it will be very difficult to clean.

Depending on the size of the chicken it should be done in 30 to 45 minutes, or until the juices run clear.This can be served with anything you like. I prefer to serve it with some red roasted potatoes tossed in garlic, oil, and fresh Rosemary along side some cole slaw mixed with pineapple chunks and craisins!

Grand Cay

Just returned from Grand Cay. Of course the guys had to pick a full moon to wahoo fish. We did end up with a couple small hoos. Lot's of Blackfins! Trolled the wahoo lures inside the reef and hooked several grouper. Ended up with some real nice yellowfin grouper. We took the guys drifting on the reef when the weather was blowing, and caught some awesome mutton snapper. Made it back to Stuart Monday, and looking forward to our new home for the Reel Candy.

Sailfishing from Stuart Thanksgiving morning. Went one for two and a couple of mahi in 3 hours offshore. Wanted to fish today, but 25 mph winds changed everyones mind. Sails got to be biting!

The marina is the closest marina to the St Lucie Inlet, with lots of parking and admenities. Finest Kind Bait-Tackle and Marina has been home to the best fishing fleet on the east coast of Florida. Congratulations to our Good friend Jack Tullius at Black Bart lures on his big wahoo. Jack and his brother Gary caught a couple others over 50 in San Sal. Last years October bite treated Jack to some great wahoo fishing too. Can't wait to get the Reel Candy to San Sal to fish along side the Black Bart Bertram!

We are proud to welcome the McConnell family to the Reel Candy crew! Chance McConnell, his wife Regan, and daughter Avery, are from Mobile Alabama.

Chance is no stranger to the winners platform. Owner and operator of Expedition Charters, Chance has won several categories for Tuna and Blue Marlin in Gulf Tournaments. They own and maintain a 40' Express, tournament equipped luxury fishing vessel. Chance, and our mate Greg Dunley will be heading to Marsh Harbour, Bahamas in the next couple of weeks to initiate a few Reel Candy charter guests to Wahoo fishing in the Abacos!

The cold fronts from up north are moving this way and signaling the migration of sailfish for their journey south. Some boats from Stuart have already reported multiple bites on a single day. The Reel Candy is docked at the new Sunset Bay Marina in Stuart, Florida and will be available for your sailfish adventure this winter.
